Design Thinking Lab: the first step to engage people in transformation.

Design Thinking Lab is an experiential workshop for methodology transfer that helps organizations develop a new – more collaborative, structured, and human – way to design solutions for real problems.

Why You Should Do a Design Thinking Lab

Through the Design Thinking Lab, a selected group of people in your organization (the core team) learns the Design Thinking methodology by working on concrete and relevant business challenges.

Thanks to this experience, these individuals become ambassadors of a new way of working, initiating a broader transformation process.

At the end of the Lab, the generated projects can be implemented within the company, while the participants have acquired a new way of working that can be replicated and disseminated throughout the organization.

Structured Method

Participants learn the methodology by progressing through the 4 phases of the Design Thinking Double Diamond.

Mindset Shift

A human-centered way of thinking is instilled in the company, where the user (external or internal client) is at the core of processes.

Practical and Visual Tools

We enable participants to use the tools from the Design Thinking “toolbox,” which they can later reuse within the company.

Internal Innovative Projects

We propose real and relevant challenges to the Lab participants, allowing them to launch innovative projects.

How the Design Thinking Lab Works

In the Lab, the core team members are guided through the 4 phases of Design Thinking, using the Double Diamond model*.

Through this method, participants move in a structured and guided way from a complex initial challenge to the generation of concrete solutions for the organization.

* The Double Diamond visualizes the iterative Design Thinking approach through divergent and convergent phases. This model was proposed by the British Design Council in 2002.

Exploration

The involved teams analyze the context, conducting interviews with key users.

Definition

The involved teams extract research insights and define the sub-challenge on which to focus the project.

Ideation

The involved teams engage in several rounds of ideation to generate a large number of ideas, then select the most promising ones.

Prototyping

The involved teams develop prototypes of their final idea, which are shared and tested with potential users of the initiative, perhaps during a Feedback Day (see below).

Space for Engagement: Feedback Day

The Feedback Day is a dedicated day during the Prototyping phase where project teams share their prototype with colleagues who are not participating in the design sessions.

It is a valuable opportunity to gather user feedback on new company initiatives under development, allowing project teams to enhance them. It is also an opportunity for all other individuals to contribute to project development with their perspective. Everyone becomes a bit of a co-designer of the new proposals, facilitating their adoption in the subsequent implementation phase.

The Feedback Day also serves to demonstrate the company’s commitment to a new work model, showing people the new cultural direction in which the organization is moving.

Why Amploom

Work tables, people sitting and standing, dynamism, discussion, and creativity: here in the video are some ingredients of our design meetings.

Co-design 🔁

We involve a large number of stakeholders to bring diverse perspectives to the table and make the design process participatory.

Facilitation 🙌

We are facilitators of change, guiding and supporting people through the transformation journey.

Visual Design 👁️

Our projects are supported by visual templates, which make co-design tangible and dismantle team dysfunctions.

Digital Interaction 💻

Activities can be conducted remotely, using collaborative digital tools (e.g., MURAL), which replicate visual tools and facilitate co-design.

The Amploom Touch 🪄

We believe that every experience can become memorable with a touch of “magic.” That’s why we curate our activities by creating special interaction moments that help set the right mood and strengthen relationships among people.

Whether it’s Bingo or a treasure hunt at the museum, we create ice-breaking and team-building activities (we like to call them warm-ups) that enhance spaces and engage people.
